"Sparkle, Sparkle" Nails

Let me start by saying- please ignore my cuticles and peeling skin. Anyone with any magical cure for terrible cuticles and hangnails, please let me know. As you can see, I need it.

Anyways, I love black nail polish, but don't love giving off a gothic vibe. Sparkles of any colour give a boost to black nails, and this time around I decided to try something new- adding some loose glitter.

I gave my nails two coats of China Glaze's Liquid Leather to start.

While still wet, I sprinkled loose glitter (purchased at Ardene about 3 years ago) into the polish on both of my ring fingers. Once dry, I covered it with a coat of China Glaze's Fast Forward Top Coat.

(This glitter looks purple in the jar, but goes on with a green/yellow tinge.)

So this is where I did a bit of experimenting. I decided to do a glitter tip on each of my remaining nails, but tried to drag it down into the rest of my nail to give it a fade-out effect. I did this by using a cotton swab dipped in a bit of polish remover to place glitter on the tip of my nail. I used the swab to carefully drag small bits of glitter downwards.

You can really see the glitter fade out in this picture.

I finished the rest of my nails off with a top coat to seal in the glitter and then cleaned up the edges of my nails.

Sparkle, sparkle!
