This is Holly's current bedroom. It began as a cupcake themed room, and has evolved into a princess/cupcake/candy shop/everything girly room. In case you haven't noticed, the room is dark, dark brown- and yes, it is this dark in person. I honestly feel like no matter what I do to clean this room, it still doesn't look right because everything blends and looks terrible together.
We thought about painting the room, but decided not to spend our time and money on the project as we rent the house, and this dark brown paint was placed overtop of wallpaper- not nice.
Holly has an expresso coloured furniture set, which doesn't exactly look great in this room. So, we recently added a small pink princess toddler bed to the room (throwing off the cupcake theme a bit), which helped brighten it up. In another effort to brighten the ceiling (also painted for some reason), I made several pom-poms that hang from the ceiling.
Now, it's time to work on details, and here are some of the upcoming projects in this bedroom that I will be updating on:
This weekend I had the pleasure of creating a beautiful wedding cake- a very simple monogram topped cake with gorgeous purple ribbon.
My favourite things about this cake?
The simplicity of the monogram on top. I played around with ribbon surrounding the "W" but it just didn't look right- it made it unreadable, or just too cluttered atop the cake. I just love monogram topped cakes, period. I also adore how each tier has a different colour of purple ribbon, and of course, my favourite part is the polka dots all over (which you can see better in the pictures below).
Problems I had with the cake?
While doing this cake, I encountered a few problems with fondant because it turns out that trying to fondant a 6" high square cake is very hard to do- the corners tend to rip. A few tries and I got it looking beautiful, but fondant is still something that I curse at. Other than that, I will actually say that this cake gave me a huge confidence boost because it was extremely tall, and I really had no problems with levelling, stabilization, or stacking.
Check out a few more pictures:
A little better view of the top and front.
The monogram topper along with tons and tons of dots. The uniformity of them is so beautiful.

Thank you to the bride and groom for allowing me to create this beauty!
I seriously cannot get over the fact that not only does this set contain a super cute cellphone and play makeup, but it also contains an amazing cupcake purse, cupcake sash, cupcake debit card, and play cupcake invitations.
A wish the cupcake purse and debit card were mine...
The best part? They were on clearance at Winners for $3.00.
Anything with a cupcake on it for $3.00 is a score.
