Spinach and Feta Pie

Do you ever start browsing blogs and come across something totally random that you decide you'd like to bake/cook? I do it all the time.

I came across this recipe on Skinny Taste a while ago, and held off on making it due to the fact that no one in my house likes feta cheese except for myself. Then, one Sunday morning I woke up and decided  to do it anyways- because feta cheese is actually awesome.

If you read my blog, you know that all of my recipe posts consist of me taking someone else's recipe and simplifying it- down to the bare minimal ingredients. I did that again with this pie.

The recipe that I used called for dill, scallions, parsley, asiago, and fresh cracked pepper. I did not use any of those.
I chose to use only feta and spinach as the base of my pie, and only flour, baking powder, milk, olive oil, eggs, and salt for the mixture that was poured overtop.

That amounts to cutting out almost half of the recipe- once a picky eater, always a picky eater.

The pie turned out fantastic & I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the texture.
I'll definitely be making this again.

My First House Plant

About six months ago, I purchased my very first house plant.

I chose the easiest option because, to be honest, I thought for sure I would kill it.
The easiest option turned out to be a money tree due to the fact that they require little water and minimal sun. It also only cost me $4 + the pot (totally replaceable).

To my total surprise, I became obsessed with this plant. I water it constantly, make sure it has enough sun, clean it regularity, and have had a few bouts with spider mites that love and care have successfully conquered.

As you can see, all of my love and care has done this plant so well that it grew to be too big for its' original pot. I feel like a house plant champion.

I finally got around to replanting the beauty, and now I'm hoping for let her grow until she becomes a full sized tree (the ones that cost $25 at the nursery)! Wish me luck.

I also plan to get a few more real plants to place around my home since I know I can take care of these babies like a pro.

Plus, it doesn't hurt that I have an awesome little girl as a helper!

This Week 18

My new favourite coffee mug (it holds two large sized Keurig brews!) // I didn't know these painting books even existed anymore until I found this one at Dollarama // Seven new pairs of earrings in one week // Ready to drink iced coffee- genius // Chris & I have been on such a great music kick lately (Ed Sheeran singing Wish You Were Here at the Olympic Closing Ceremony anyone!?)

New In

Boyfriend and I decided some time ago that we would start collecting fragrances because, well, who doesn't like to smell good? Also, fragrances are a great go-to gift for both men and women, so it makes birthdays and other holidays that much easier to buy for.

With that, last week we were wandering our local mall and came across a sale at Bath & Body Works. These lovelies were on the clearance rack and combined ended up costing us under $20.
.
.

Let me just say that I highly, highly recommend both of these products.
I don't think that the stores are selling either of them anymore, but if you happen to see either on a clearance rack- don't hesitate.

Classic is Chris' new favourite, and I can distinguish it from all of his other colognes right away.
The Lemon & Pomegranate Body Spray is even better. It's honestly one of the best body sprays I've ever tried- long lasting and extremely summery and sweet. I'm in love.

Don't you love when you find a few favourite?

Toddler Girl's Room Improvements: New Bedding

This is Holly's new and improved bed.

_______________________________________________________________________

Remember this post and these pictures?

Just look at that ugly old bed.
Well, I've already worked on and completed the closet (here and here) and fixed the rod (here), so I moved onto the bedding.

My aunt is completely to thank for this bedding. She created this amazing pink and brown quilt that I am absolutely in love with.

Damask, hearts, and paisley? What else could I ask for?

There are even hearts quilted into the blanket itself- my favourite part.

After I received the quilt, I requested a few matching pillow cases, and of courses she whipped them up for me. Now, Holly's pink and brown room looks much more complete.

That little cupcake pillow gets me every time, and now she matches the rest of the bed!

I love it so much, and so does Holly.

There are only a few more projects left in Holly's room, but I am so happy with the room as it is right now that I'm in no rush to get the other small things done.
xoxo.
