Julep Maven - My First Box Review

Earlier this week, my very first Julep Maven box arrived at my door. I was so excited I almost died.

The box contained 3 nail colours, a glycol hand scrub, a foot cream, a guide to julep products, and a coupon for 50% off my next order. Check out what I received below:

I instantly fell in love with the packaging for Julep nail polish. One side of each bottle is painted black with a window for viewing the colour more accurately, and on top of each bottle is a "swatch me" sticker for those of us who store our polish horizontally. I've never seen features like these on polish bottles- in love.

The three colours I received in this box were:

Martha - Classic with a Twist: I'm absolutely in love with this colour. Light pinks are straight up my alley.
Annie - Bombshell: I actually already have a China Glaze colour very similar to this. It's not my favourite.
Octavia - Classic with a Twist: I may find a way to wear this colour this winter, but for now I'm not in to it.

I love the Julep polish brush. It's flat so the application is smooth. These polishes also seem very strong and dry fairly quickly. Time will tell if they beat out my current favourite brand - China Glaze.

I don't care much for the hand scrub. I've never been one to care whether or not my hands are soft. I'll continue using it, but would probably never purchase this product on its own.

On the other hand, I'm in love with the pedi creme. It smells ah-mazing, is very hydrating, and doesn't feel oily. I would definitely purchase it again.

My favourite thing about these products is again the packaging. When looking at the bottles, you would assume that the cap twists off, but it doesn't. When twisted, a small hole in the bottom opens up to allow you to dispense the product.

Overall, I'm extremely impressed with Julep Maven. This box only cost me $2.99 in shipping (your first box is free!) and the products did not disappoint. I can't wait for next month.

1. This review made me laugh. Why do celebrities do this!?

2. Seriously obsessed with how real and chic this contact paper looks.

3. I used to think these were tacky, but with baby boy coming this Winter I'm seriously considering getting "The Whole Caboodle".

4. I don't care what anyone says. I love her and this dress.

5. What will I be doing tonight? Watching this reunion.

Pregnancy Perks

ACO - Confetti Glitter

China Glaze - Feel the Breeze

China Glaze - Innocence

Today I called in sick to work. The past two days I've been feeling dizzy, having headaches, and throwing up for the first time since my first trimester.

Because I'm sitting at home being miserable and watching Sex and the City the movie, I decided to write this little post about my favourite perk to being pregnant- long, strong, and beautiful nails.
I've always had brittle and short nails, so while pregnant I've been obsessing over the difference.

Through all the craziness I've felt during this pregnancy, I have found myself looking at my temporary claws and smiling because I know in just two short months they'll be gone. It gets me thinking that sometimes we need to remind ourselves of the little things that make us happy.

Julep Maven First Box Free (Just $2.99 Shipping to Canada)!!

Image via Julep

I finally bit the bullet and signed up for Julep Maven. I'm so excited to try out Julep nail polish, but I'm even more excited that my first box was free. I live in Canada, and I was extremely surprised that all I had to pay was $2.99 for shipping. No other fees- just $2.99.

That's insane you guys. In Canada we're constantly getting screwed over with shopping/duty fees, so I couldn't wait to let everyone know about this.

Just go and sign up for a subscription and upon checkout, type the code "hello you" to get your first box free. If you don't want the actual monthly subscription, simply cancel before next month's cycle!

Weekly Links Vol. 1

1. A funny reminder that no one cares about what you want when your wife is in labour.

2. Sometimes I feel too busy to pull out my sewing machine and get creative, so I'm loving the idea of this new book (written by an amazing blogger).

3. Chris and I have seen some extremely dated kitchens in the older homes we've been viewing lately. This makeover gives me hope!

4. This dessert looks so delicious to my pregnant self. I think I'll be making it this weekend!

5. I can't remember how I stumbled across her blog, but this is definitely one of my new favourite reads.

12 weeks

Image Via

I have 12 weeks of work left before my planned maternity leave. 12 weeks that ultimately seems so short, but is oh so far away.

I currently work full time- 9.5 hours a day Monday through Friday. It’s getting harder and harder every week.

I’m extremely grateful for my job. I actually like my job. But waking up at 6 a.m. every day and juggling my family life as well as finding a house and prepping for baby is wearing me out big time.

When I’m home, all I do is sleep. I feel like a pregnant zombie.

… and that’s my complaint for today. 12 weeks to go.

New In

1. I've been cheaping out on mascara lately, but my boyfriend's brother's wedding last weekend gave me a good excuse to splurge on my all time favourite.

2. I've been slowly trying out the whole Maybelline Fit Me line (post coming soon), and just added this concealer.

3. I've been dying to try dry oil for some time now. I finally gave in and purchased this one during a sale. I don't regret it.
