Influenster Love!

Influenster is a product review, Q&A, news, and exclusive offers website that I joined a few years ago  on a whim. I didn't hear much from the site until I got the email a few months ago saying that I would receive my first VoxBox- a box of goodies to be sent my way to review.

Basically, the deal is that you are invited to a campaign and receive a VoxBox in the mail containing various products. When you receive the box, you "check in" online and are then given a list of tasks to complete in order to gain rewards to unlock badges. The more badges you unlock and activities you complete, the better your chances are of being selected for more prizes from Influenster as well as to be chosen for future VoxBoxes.

So far, I've been invited to participate in two campaigns with Influenster (click to read about my experiences with both products):

The Monopoly Junior game I recieved from Influenster

The Impress Nails I recieved from Influenster

Both experiences have been fantastic. I have loved the products I recieved and found it super easy to review and complete the badges.

Beyond receiving awesome free products to test, Influenster provides amazing VoxPerks and let's you read reviews and Q&As on all types of products. They even have an amazing app that lets me check in and complete activities right on my phone.

I'm so excited to see what my next campaign will be. If you haven't already done so, I highly suggest you join Influenster!

The Christmas Tag

I stumbled across this tag on one of my favourite blogs- MakeupSaavy. It is originally form the Milk Bubble Tea Blog. It's such a fun way to share my early Christmas excitement.

.
.
.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?

The Santa Claus, Elf, Christmas with the Kranks, and The Holiday.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

All of them on Christmas morning. Chris and I are thinking of starting a tradition of giving all the kids new Christmas PJ's on Christmas Eve, but other than that, my family doesn't do any gifts before then.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

Getting to wear brand new Christmas dresses every year. It's funny because every year now I get to see my girls have the same feeling I had. It's so special to see how happy a glittery new dress can make a little girl.

4. Favourite festive food?

How can I even decide this? I think I'll go with gingerbread cookies...or pretty much any cookie.

5. Favourite Christmas gift?

A vintage Avon spoon ring from my grandma. I used to have the ring but it broke in half and I lost it. A few years ago she found the exact same ring and gifted it to me. I cried.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?

The smell of sugar cookies. I can only describe it as warm, sweet vanilla. It makes me want to curl up in a ball, eat my face off, and never leave my couch.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

Eating finger foods and watching movies. Keeping it simple with immediate family.

8. What tops your tree?

A beautiful golden and glittery star. Chris and I actually argued about this the first few years we were together- he prefers a santa but I think a star is much more traditional (and makes a lot more sense).

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

I actually remember asking for an Iguana for like 3 years straight. I'm really glad my parents never fed into this because I actually hate taking care of animals. I can only imagine what kind of mess an Iguana would have been.

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?

The sights and sounds. I absolutely love how "big" the Christmas season is. I feel like in comparison, every other holiday is kind of half done. Christmas is so over the top. Everywhere you go there are decorations and music and activities. It's the least dull time of year.

Beyond that, being a mom at Christmas time is the coolest thing I've ever experienced. I definitely don't get the gifts I used to seeing as everyone buys for my kids instead, but it's the best feeling to see how happy the holiday season makes little kids.

#GameNight with Monopoly Junior

Earlier last week, we received an awesome package in the mail courtesy of Hasbro and Influenster - our very own copy of Monopoly Junior to review.

Our family has a massive collection of board games, but for some reason we didn't have this one. When Holly saw the box, she just about lost it. I mean, since when do you get things this cool in the mail?

The second we got home from the post office, we started playing.

Here is what I loved about the game:

This game is a bit more complicated than other kids games such as chutes and ladders or Candyland. I actually felt like Holly was being challenged but also having fun.

Holly is 5 and a half years old and in Senior Kindergarten. This game is perfect for her. Beyond basic counting to move spaces, she learned that to play like a grown up she would have to count money, read directions, and follow the rules.

I also absolutely loved that the rules were adapted to make the game less complicated for children.

Some of the adaptions include:
- There is only one die
- When you land on a property, it has to be purchased
- Rent is the same as purchase price
- Properties only come in groups of two, so when you own both, rent is doubled
- There are no railroads or utilities
- There are no houses or hotels. You simply claim the spaces you own with special tokens
- When someone runs out of money, the game is over. You can not mortgage properties or sell houses

In the week we've had this game we've already played it 7 times. Thanks again for the testing opportunity Influenster! #GameNight

This Week 24

This week has been a little bit rough for me, so I'm glad it's over.

1. Today is my original due date. It turns out my actual due date was yesterday, but I'll still say this is it. I made it through 40 weeks of pregnancy. Woo!

My lopsided 40 week belly!

2. Although it's depressing news, I have some real information on when baby boy will arrive. I had an internal done at my OB appointment on Wednesday and currently my body is doing nothing to get this baby out - No dilation, barely any thinning, no contractions. I have a non stress test scheduled for today to make sure everything is okay and if I'm still pregnant by next Wednesday, I'll be scheduled for an induction.

3. With this extra pregnant time, I've added some last minute details to the baby's room and cleaned the house a little bit. Any progress is progress, right?

4. I got some Christmas shopping done! My original plan was to have it all done when the baby arrival. That didn't work out so I'm trying to get as much as I can done for now.

5. This week I received quite a few free samples in the mail as well as a Hasbro board game to review. It actually makes me entire day when I get awesome mail. Look for a review of the game next week!

Weekly Links Vol. 11

1. I've been slowly starting to prep bento-type lunches for Holly everyday. These links (here and here) have really helped me decide what I do and don't need.

2. My due date is 3 days away and I'm finding this article quite interesting.

3. Tonight I plan on trying this recipe for stove top mac and cheese.

4. I'm on a hot chocolate kick right now. Maybe you should be too.

5. I really wish I had the energy to make it to the mall this week. H&M has some awesome kids stuff coming out.

Halloween 2014

Halloween 2014 has come and gone people! Although it was rainy and cold, my monster high girls had a great night. Chris took them out trick or treating while baby and I stayed home and handed out candy.

Brooke is dressed as Dracu Laura and Holly is dressed as Frankie Stein - both characters from the Monster High movies.
I purchased both costumes from Party City. Each costume was $39.99, which I think was pretty good considering they included the wigs.

I have loved seeing everyone's photos over the weekend. If you have a blog post showing off your family's Halloween, comment the link!

Officially 39 weeks pregnant on Halloween.

On a completely separate note:

I usually take my blog photos with my iPhone 4S and have for a long time. When I uploaded these photos, I noticed how terrible they look. They are grainy and blurry and I'm upset about it.

I've checked everything on my phone as well as googled the problem and I have no idea why the quality has gone down so drastically all of a sudden.

It looks like I'll be needing a new camera or phone.

Any suggestions in the mean time?
