CoverGirl's Bombshell Volume by LashBlast Mascara Review

Recently, I tried two new mascaras- I hated one and loved the other. This is the first of two reviews.

I received CoverGirl's Bombshell Volume by LashBlah Mascara in the Elle beauty box. I had no clue that it existed before I received it, but I always love getting new products to try- especially mascaras.

I’ve been using this product for about 3 weeks now and have come to a definite conclusion: I dislike it.

Let me tell you why.

First of all, I’ve never been much into 2-step mascaras. They feel so unnecessary to me. If I can find a good one-step mascara, why would I bother with something that needs a second step? It just seems like a gimmick to me.

I don’t find that there’s a real selling point or wow factor to this mascara. I don’t find that it gives me any good amount of curl, length, or volume, especially compared to my favorites (Benefit’s They’re Real, Maybelline’s The Rocket, Estee Lauder’s Magnascopic). I had a hard time seeing the difference between each step and in the end felt disappointed with the overall look and feel of the product.

One of my biggest dislikes about this product was the fact that I could not get it off. I use coconut oil or Walmart’s store brand makeup wipes to remove my makeup every day. Both typically work great (even on waterproof mascara) but with this mascara, nothing seemed to work. No matter how hard I rubbed, which product I used, and how much I tried, I could still feel pieces of dried mascara on my lashes. The residue bothered me to the point where I was scrubbing hard enough to take out my eyelashes.
Fixing application slip-ups was even worse. With any other mascara, my routine is to use a q-tip and water to gently remove any black specks. In this case, I couldn’t rub hard enough- the specks pretty much had to stay on my skin for a few hours before they became easy to rub off.

Overall, I’m surprised at how much I actually dislike this mascara. Has anyone had a completely different experience with this mascara?
