This Week 39

1. Nothing too exciting happened this week. We had a kid-free weekend (woo!) and I got some much needed relaxation courtesy of my LUSH bath bombs.

2. CJ had his first haircut, done by yours truly! He looks so much more grown up.

This Week 38

1. We have an extremely mischievous baby on our hands over here. I'm quickly learning that having a boy is a lot different than having a girl.

2. Obsessing over the LUSH bath bombs I recieved for Christmas.

3. Holly and CJ finding new ways to play.

4. The girls recently started diaries. I thought this entry was particularly funny.

5. The girls used their Christmas gift cards to buy My Life As dolls (Walmart's version of an American Girl doll). I'm shocked it took this long for the doll obsession to start.

6. I actually can't believe it, but my parents got a dog. My new "brother" is a Golden Retriever named Diesel.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation

I recieved this foundation from BzzAgent and Covergirl to test and review. I was so excited for this opportunity and was not disappointed in the least.

What I Liked: This foundation completely blew me away. I've been using the same mineral foundation for years, and this product made me switch. This drugstore foundation (around $10 CAD) has the feel of a much more expensive product and is truly a game changer.

This foundation is a 3-in-1: Primer, foundation, and concealer. To my surprise, I was able to detect all three when I wore it. It lasts all day, has amazing coverage, and feels incredibly light.

I have extremely acne prone skin and have had fantastic results with this foundation. My skin has reacted well to it, and it covers every blemish on my face with a single pump. I have never tried a product that covered this well but felt this light.

Left: completely bare skin     Right: 1 pump of the 3-in-1 foundation applied with a brush

What I Didn't Like:  This sounds crazy, but absolutely nothing. This foundation is actually exceptional.

Final Thoughts: If you haven't already, I highly recommend that you try this foundation. It really is an all in one product for an exceptional price.

Links Vol. 21

1. A never-ending sickness overtook our house last month and this seems to have helped.

2. Uhm are these even real? They're on next years' Christmas list already.

3. I just bought this 2016 planner.

4. Beautiful floating shelves that I wish I could make myself.

5. Highly considering edible glitter for our wedding cake.

2015 was mostly a wonderful year for me - Chris and I got engaged and started planning our wedding, we made some amazing improvements to our home, and I was lucky enough to be able to stay home with CJ for the majority of the year.

Everything was amazing until October hit. I took my return to work really hard and had a very difficult time adjusting to our new routine both emotionally and physically. October to December of 2015 seems like a blur. I stopped eating well, exercising, blogging, and working on anything productive. Between multiple sicknesses in our household, Chris being on business trips, and the huge Christmas to-do list, I was stressed to the max. I was sad and tired, and really missed being a stay-at-home mom.

2016 is going to be a year of adjustment for me.

Over a much needed 2 week Christmas vacation, I thought a lot about the upcoming year and decided that this year I need to come to terms with being back at work. I will need to stop fantasizing about a time when I will be able to stay home with my kids again because in reality, it will probably never happen.

This year will be a year of finding our "new normal" and making time for myself so that I can avoid staying in the same head space I've been in since October.

With that, here are some things I'm looking forward to in 2016:

1. Our wedding!
2. Finally getting a minivan
3. Making home improvements
4. Getting to see our children turn 8, 7, and 2
5. Taking on some new creative projects

And here are my official resolutions:

1. Eat right and excercise (same as every. single. year)
2. Save money - get back into saving, couponing, and pricematching
3. Make our house feel more like a home - add decor and find our personal style
4. Get organized - several rooms in our house need a huge overhaul
5. Take time for myself

Wishing everyone an amazing 2016!
