Links Vol. 22

1. Holly collects cool pillows, so I would love to make this awesome donut pillow for her!

2. Literally not sleeping tonight. I hate spiders.

3. I've been reading up a lot on how to grow my blog. This site has really great resources.

4. I got these insanely cool cat-ear headphones for Holly's birthday this year. She adores them.

5. I've recently discovered how great AmazonBasics is, and this tripod is no exception.

Blog Changes!

Today you'll notice some exciting changes on the blog, most obviously a brand new header/logo!

I've been wanting a more personalized logo and header for a long time, and when I wrote out my monthly goals for March I took the plunge and added it to the list.

I found Flower Moon Designs on Etsy and she designed me this beautiful pink/gold watercolour logo. I'm obsessed!

I also cleaned up the sidebar, took away the background photo, and changed my mobile layout. I've got more small changes coming, but for now I'm super happy to share my progress!

Spring Cleaning with Pinesol #YesItsPinesol

Spring cleaning is a big deal for me. I associate it with feeling lighter and starting fresh. There's a relaxing feeling in knowing that your house is refined and refreshed after a whole year of build up.

Earlier this month, Chris did a massive overhaul of our under-the-stairs storage, our storage closet, and our mud room. He added some new shelving, pulled out everything, and started from scratch. I came home from work and he was dying to show me what he had done. He had made space for me to easily access my professional KitchenAid mixer (which isn't in our kitchen simply because it takes up a lot of room). When I saw it, I absolutely melted.

This is exactly why I love spring cleaning - it's a chance to consider how life has changed in the last year and make adjustments.

My big spring job is to deep clean everything, especially before it gets hot. Here's a bit of what my checklist includes:

- Clean windows, interior and exterior
- Move all furniture and clean baseboards
- Move appliances and clean underneath/behind
- Clean kitchen cabinet fronts and reline all cupboards and drawers
- Wash and deodorize all garbage cans

This year, I was given the chance to try Pine-Sol Spring Blossom. I was extremely surprised when I received the bottle and it was bright pink, and even more surprised when I opened it and the room filled with an amazing floral scent. Spring Blossom is a combination of Jasmine, Magnolia, and Orange Blossom, and it blows me away every time I open the bottle.

Not only is PineSol Spring Blossom deororizing and degreasing, the scent really lasts. I'm obsessed with using this stuff in my kitchen and especially in my bathroom because hours later when I return, the smell is still there. Dare I say...it actually makes cleaning more enjoyable.

Priced at $4.49 CAD for a 1.41L bottle, I would buy it over and over again simply because I feel like when I purchase the cleaner, I get a bonus built-it air freshener. It's become a staple in my cleaning cupboard.

I still have a few items on my list left to tackle, but I'm well on my way to revamping for the year.

Spring cleaning doesn't have to be a dreaded chore! Make it about improving the way your life functions, and you'll thank yourself everyday.

Happy Spring!

Currently... March 2017

Watching: MTV's The Challenge, Girls, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules, Teen Mom 2

Eating: The delicious sugar cookies pictured above. I purchased a pack of them on a whim at Walmart and they are so soft and delicious! You'd never know they're only $3 for 10.

Doing: Spring cleaning, hardcore.

Thinking: About revamping the blog with a brand new logo/header.

Planning: Chris' early birthday party this upcoming weekend. We have Toronto Raptors tickets Friday night and are having some friends over Saturday night.

Holly's Emoji Themed 8th Birthday

Last weekend we threw Holly her very first real birthday party. By "real" I mean not just family - We had 13 of her school friends over and thew an awesome Emoji birthday party.

Holly's awesome emoji dress is from The Children's Place. Her bright yellow tights were a #WinnersFabFind for only $2. Brooke's emoji t-shirt was also found at Winners.

The cake and cupcakes were surprisingly easy to make. Besides cake and icing, all I needed was sprinkles and a half batch of marshmallow fondant to make the details. I'm shocked at how good they turned out!

As for decor, it turns out that our local Canadian party stores don't carry anything Emoji. Luckily, I checked Amazon and hit the jackpot. The prices are amazing. Check out the decorations I purchased below (the images direct link to the amazon listings). The pinata is my favourite!

I wish I had taken more photos of the decorations and details, but I'm trying to avoid posting photos of other people's children without permission.

All together, Holly was a happy girl.

Three Hundredth Post

It came to my attention today that this is my 300th published post.

Woah... 300 posts. How!? When!? Crazy.

I started this blog in 2009 right after Holly was born (hence the name Holly Muffin, aka my nickname for her) as a creative outlet. For some reason, I deleted my very first posts, but posts from 2011 and beyond still exist.

Most of my early posts are absolutely horrible - I had no direction, I was just posting about what I liked to do. My early "nail art" posts are extremely embarrassing. But guess what? I won't delete them.

The truth is that over the last 8 years, I've learned a lot about myself via writing this blog. This blog has been with me through a lot: Boyfriends, breakups, babies, schooling, jobs, new relationships, more babies, home-owning, marriage, and everything in between.

I'm proud of this blog and every single person who has ever visited. If you're reading this, it means you're one of them, so thank you.

I can't wait to see where the next 300 posts take me.
