On Keeping it all Together

Image via
Every year, I get slight summertime sadness. While most people wait all year for it to warm up, I dread it. I hate the heat, I hate how busy things get, and I hate the change in routine. I always find that the warmer it gets, the more tired and unfocused I feel. It's times like these that I start to question myself and feel overwhelmed with day-to-day life.

My car broke down last week, and I lost it. It was a dramatic moment for me, but in the moment it felt all too real. I had to figure out the logistics of getting to appointments and work, worry about the cost of fixing my 15 year old car, and worry that if it wasn't fixable, I would be looking for a new car.

Although I work, my husband's job is much less flexible than mine, so I take on all of the situations like this one. It the grand scheme of life, not having a car for 2 days is nothing at all. Heck, we even have a second car. In retrospect it feels silly, but I cried more in those days than I have in a long time.

Why couldn't I keep it together? For no good reason, this small bump in the road of everyday life felt like my whole world was crumbling. That, my friends, is stress.

I decided to take a break and breathe - hence why I haven't posted in 2 weeks, and hence when I'm typing this post. My to-do list from last week still isn't finished, and I'm okay with it. These are the times when I'm thankful for my exceptionally supportive husband and my flexible job. These are the times when I need this blog - when I need to type to feel better.

How do you keep it all together?

Currently... June 2017

Watching: Orange is the New Black, and we're almost finished Shameless

Eating: Ice cream - it's hot!

Doing: Working on our yard. I have dreams of having a vegetable garden, but not sure I'm willing to put in the work.

Thinking: A lot about how to let myself enjoy the life I've created. Sometimes it's hard for me to get out of my own head and just be.

Planning: My first girls trip ever. My best friend and I are heading to Niagara Falls for a weekend in July. We just booked the hotel and I'm beyond excited.

Ebay Find: 99 Cent Beauty Tools

This post contains Ebay affiliate links, but all opinions are my own.

I love a good deal, and along with Amazon, Ebay is my go-to for discount beauty products. There's a wide selection of items for less than $1, which makes me smile oh-so-big.

What I purchased:

What I Liked: The price cannot be beat. I found that one eyebrow brush goes for at least $3.99, while sets of eyebrow razors are $5+. After I received them, I actually found the exact same set of razors at Winners for $7.99.

The quality is comparable to local stores. I'm not talking Sephora quality, I'm talking Forever 21/Claire's/Dollar Store quality. Regardless, the items are a fraction of the cost when purchased on Ebay. The eyebrow razors work perfectly, and the angled brushes are soft and exactly what I needed for my eyebrows and winged liner.

What I Didn't Like: There's only one thing I don't like about $0.99 products from Ebay - the wait. I usually make sure I'm not in a hurry for the items I order because unfortunately, the wait for them to come from China can be up to 3 months.

My #1 tip? Pay attention to the date range for your item's arrival. The second the items are late, file a complaint with Ebay/Paypal. Every time I've done this, I've received my money back (and still receive the items eventually!).

Final Thoughts: If you're not in a crazy hurry to get your items, ordering cheap beauty products from Ebay is a win-win. There's minimal risk in ordering crazy and fun beauty products when they cost so little.
